Topics include hydrology, geomorphology, soils, biogeochemistry, adaptations of organism to inundation and anoxia, ecological functions, invasive species, classifications, succession, delineation, restoration, and creation. Laboratory and field work are an important part of this course.

Laboratory and discussion sections focus on problem solving and hands-on investigation of diverse life forms.
